Music
Music lessons are held on a weekly basis. Students in years P-7 receive one half hour lesson. This music program is designed to enhance the understanding of sounds, applying different application with sounds & how to organize sounds. Through sequenced activities in beat, rhythm, melody and harmony, the programme is intended to engage the musical mind and stimulate the intellect. Classes are characterised by singing, as singing is considered to be the fundamental tool in promoting audiation - the process whereby music can be heard and experienced in the human mind without acoustic stimulation. All 4 - 7 classes are also taught to read, write music and play the recorder. Students also have opportunities to access percussion instruments, keyboards and xylophones in groups and further the individual skills with the school band.
